AidaIDE 1.0.0-rc18 — Release Notes

This is the live build. /latest.json serves 1.0.0-rc18 (released 2026-09-28), beta channel. Windows is the primary supported path: a signed installer. macOS and Linux builds are in progress. A Linux experimental source tarball (AidaIDE-1.0.0-rc18-linux.tar.gz, unpack and run ./install.sh) is available to try. It is not a first-class host OS. The Workbench ships in this desktop build. Feature notes from prior release candidates still apply — see 1.0.0-rc17, 1.0.0-rc15, and 1.0.0-rc11. A separate 3D world plugin is coming to Pro and Teams Pro; it is not in this build and is not for sale on that page.

How to get it

Free download requires a free AidaIDE account. After you sign in, the dashboard serves the asset for your system from the same signed manifest. Installed copies update themselves — Help → Check for Updates.

Windows: create a free account, then download the signed installer from the dashboard.
Linux (available to try): the same manifest offers an experimental source tarball, AidaIDE-1.0.0-rc18-linux.tar.gz. Unpack it and run ./install.sh. Windows remains the primary supported path. It is not a signed peer installer and not a first-class host OS.
Already installed: the built-in updater verifies the signed manifest before applying this build.
Already have an account: log in and use Download on the dashboard.
macOS: in progress. There is no macOS asset in this manifest.

Workbench

The desktop window in this build is a workbench. View → Workbench → Use the workbench shell is on by default. It is not a Pro feature. The Cloud Portal, AidaIDE Lite, and the Android app are unchanged.

Every tab is a panel you can split, stack, or tear off into its own window. Named layouts save from the toolbar Workspace list.
Pop a connection's terminal into a panel and take it to another window while it runs.
To use plain tabs, turn off View → Workbench → Use the workbench shell and restart. The old per-tab Grid Layout mode does not come back.

What's in this build

Feature notes from prior release candidates still apply. rc18 is the current candidate on top of the 1.0 line documented in rc17, rc15, and rc11:

Workbench — split, stack, and tear-off panels in the desktop app, on by default.

Local and remote LLMs — Ollama on your own hardware, including over SSH.
Rogue Device Hunt — ARP + switch MAC join down to the physical port.
Free-forever core — editor, file browser, terminal, SSH engine, vault, fleet, and OTA. Pro unlocks the AI suite.
