Directory submissions — ranked worklist
Work top to bottom. Every directory asks for the same five things in five different lengths, so the copy below is written once and pasted everywhere — the brand then reads identically across the web. Pricing stays Free forever · Pro $19/mo · Teams $70/mo.
Work the list in this order
Ranked by search intent × audience fit ÷ effort, not by directory size. The top three are where someone actively looking to replace PuTTY or WinSCP will find us; everything below that is reach or reputation.
If you only do three: AlternativeTo → Slant → Hackster. Those capture people who are already shopping for this exact tool, and none of them need approval from us to be worth doing.
| # | Directory | Why here | Effort | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | AlternativeTo | The whole product line is “replace PuTTY + WinSCP”, and this is where that search lands. Ten /vs/ pages already exist to link from the profile. Evergreen, free, highest intent on the list. | ~30 min | Unverified |
| 2 | Slant | “Best SSH client” list pages rank well and stay ranked. No profile to approve — you add AidaIDE as an option with a rationale, so it goes live the same day. | ~20 min | Unverified |
| 3 | Hackster.io | Smaller than the generic directories but the audience is the target: IoT, embedded, and hardware. Confirmed no profile exists today. | ~30 min | Not listed |
| 4 | StackShare | Dev-tool discovery plus a durable backlink. Cheap once the copy below exists. | ~20 min | Unverified |
| 5 | SaaSHub | Its alternatives graph points back at the /vs/ cluster. Confirmed missing, quick to add. |
~15 min | Not listed (404) |
| 6 | Indie Hackers | Founder audience rather than sysadmin, so weaker fit — but the product page is free and pairs with build-in-public posts. | ~20 min | Unverified |
| 7 | BetaList | Early-adopter crowd, not fleet operators. Confirmed missing and quick, so worth doing — just not before the above. | ~15 min | Not listed (404) |
| 8 | Product Hunt | Highest ceiling on the list and the only one-shot entry — you cannot re-launch a flat launch. Needs a hunter, gallery, and a day someone can sit on comments. Deliberately ranked below the evergreen work. | Half a day | Unverified |
| 9 | Softpedia · MajorGeeks | Real download traffic for Windows desktop tools, but slow editorial review and the visitor is rarely a fleet operator. | ~30 min each | Not started |
| 10 | SourceForge | Only as a download mirror. Weak brand fit for a commercial IDE — do it last, or not at all. | ~30 min | Not started |
Not on the list yet, on purpose
| Target | Blocked on |
|---|---|
| G2 · Capterra · GetApp | These rank on review count. An empty profile reads as a dead product and is hard to un-publish. Park until a handful of customers have agreed to review, then do all three in one pass. |
| WinGet · Chocolatey | Package manifests, not listings — an engineering task against winget-pkgs needing a silent-install flow. The Scoop decision ruled out extract-style packaging but explicitly favours these run-the-installer channels, so this is the right next packaging move. |
| MicroLaunch | Already submitted and awaiting review — nothing to do but re-check. It is the only URL currently in Organization.sameAs; if the review rejects it, remove that line. |
Submission entry points
Only links returning 200 from CI are given directly. The rest sit behind bot protection, so use the site’s own submit flow rather than a guessed path — a wrong deep link was already caught this way (SaaSHub’s /submit-service is a 404).
- Verified: BetaList submit · Indie Hackers products · MajorGeeks submit
- Use on-site flow: AlternativeTo (Manage → add software) · Slant (“best SSH clients” topic → add option) · Hackster · StackShare (add tool) · SaaSHub (submit service) · Product Hunt (new post) · Softpedia · SourceForge
Organization.sameAs in index.html once it returns 200 and the page names AidaIDE. A sameAs entry that 404s is worse than no entry.Identity fields
